Q & A: Newbie Asks: “Where to Start?”
Hi Josh,
Really enjoy your site. I was introduced to it recently through your postings on the 4 hour work week forums.
Anyway…I have been reading your material, I’ve purchased Perry Marshall’s book (through your site) and am looking at keyword analyzer software. Mostly looking to fool around and learn…making some $ doing the affiliate marketing and arbitrage thing etc.
I looked on amazon for some books to research these topics further…nothing really blew me away. Do you have any recommendations for someone looking to do the research…trying to get up to speed on this whole scene?
Thanks so much in advance!
Hi Steve,
There are many types of arbitrage. The most successful is PPC-> Affiliate Offer arbitrage. So for example, on my site scrappybusiness.com, I review products, then I sometimes set up PPC campaigns on Google for that product and set the landing page as that product review page on my site. Obviously, if people like my review and purchase, I make a commission.
Other forms of arbitrage are a little more tricky, so I would recommend staying away from them for now.
I would suggest you join Azoogle.com - which allows you to find tons of merchants to promote. They are very well known in the industry.
What you want to focus on is topics that you have specialized knowledge in and that you would enjoy writing/talking/blogging/thinking about. If you have an interest & knowledge in the topic, then you will probably add more value to your readers or your site.
So,
1) Join Azoogle
2) Look for offers that interest you
3) Set up a blog or website to promote the offer. Sometimes a “Top 10″ review site works well. Such as, “Top 10 Fly Fishing Lure’s” - or whatever your interest may be
4) Build your site and generate content either by hiring writers from rentacoder or writing the content yourself
5) Build links by posting in message forums and joining directories
6) Repeat this for as many websites as you can handle.
Hope this helps!
Peace,
Joshua
