Hacking the Adwords Display URL

This is not really a hack at all, but a result of Google not immediately checking to see if a display URL matches the destination URL in an Adwords ad.

In this example, the advertiser creates an ad which shows “Firefox.org” as the display URL, only to take the visitor to a completely different website:

Although this type of thing is eventually caught, why doesn’t Google simply not allow this in the first place?

    That’s an excellent find. Considering Google doesn’t allow you to do a full domain redirect in adwords, there’s absolutely no reason it should be like that.
    Although I’m not sure what their views are on using IP-Delivery for different countries while using adwords. (Chinese User->mysite.com->mysite.cn, American User->mysite.com->mysite.us)
