Cheap Clicks on the Adwords Content Network
Here’s a quick way to get cheap clicks using the Adwords Editor “Keyword Grouper” function.
In this tutorial I’m going to show you how to use Adwords Editor to get cheap clicks on the Content Network. It’s also an easy way to use Adwords Editor to sort your keywords so you don’t have to do that manually. It’s a simple trick, but you might not know about it.
I’ve created a simple campaign that doesn’t have any Ad Groups in it yet. We’ll create an Ad Group and label it “insurance”. Don’t worry about the bid right now.
We’re going to go into the Ad Group and add a bunch of keywords. I recommend using KeyCompete, Keyword Discovery, or Keywords Analyzer 7.
I’m going to add all the keywords into my Ad Group. Click Next, then click Finish.
Now we’ll create two text ads for our “insurance” campaign.
Before using the Tools->Keyword grouper function, I like to create my ads. This way all the ads will be imported into my newly created Ad Groups. You always want to always
split test at least two different ad texts at a time.
Use the Tools -> Keyword Grouper. Then select “Generate Common Terms”. What this does is take the terms that are similar and puts them into individual Ad Groups.
In a minute I’ll show you how to get the cheap clicks…
Now we have a long list of all our Ad Groups neatly sorted. Each Ad Group also has the ad text we created previously.
So within 5-minutes we set up a pretty basic campaign containing about 1,000 keywords.
You will most likely get hit with high minimum bid prices due to the Google Quality Score update that happened several months ago that targeted affiliates. Even so, I still get clicks 15-30 clicks per day for about 0.15 cents on the search network for each of my campaigns.
To get cheap clicks, take the campaign off the Search & Search Network properties and only let it run on the Content network and bid around 0.04 cents. If the system thinks your ad will perform well on a particular site on the content network, it will test your ad there. Since there’s no minimum bids on the Content network, if your ad performs well, you may get several hundred clicks per day for 0.04-0.10 cents. I’ve been getting cheap 0.04-0.06 cent clicks on the Content Network for a long time. One tip: try to find merchants with popular brand names, they tend to get a higher CTR.
Once we set the maximum CPC bids on the search and content network, we are ready to upload the campaign. I recommend you generate custom titles for each Ad Group before uploading which will help your click through rate and improve your Quality Score.
When you’re done, click Post Changes.
You are all set to move forward with a very simple marketing campaign.
