Calling All Lazy Newbie Affiliates

Last week I posted about a $50 coupon for MSN AdCenter. This week, I bring you a $75 coupon for AdCenter.

Here’s exactly how to turn that $75 into $150+ (By the way, rumor has it that you can have up to 3 MSN AdCenter accounts at one time - for legitimate purposes only!).

1) Go to Clickbank and look at their Marketplace and pick a product in the top 10.

2) Go to Bluehost and sign up either for hosting or just buy a domain like www-Product.com (notice you use “www-” and not www.).. Costs $7 bucks for a domain.

3) Use an HTTP Frame redirect to point your domain to the merchant URL. If you do this properly, your domain should still be in the URL bar.

4) Sign up for the $75 in MSN AdCenter credits and grab the conversion tracking code.

5) Email the merchant you found on Clickbank and tell him you need him to place the conversion code on his thank you page.

6) Register for a 30-day account at KeyCompete which costs $39 bucks and download all related keywords (1-day trial costs $19 bucks).

7) Use TXTCollector(free) to merge all your TXT files from KeyCompete into 1 big file. Then use Editplus (Free) and go to Tools->Sort->Remove Duplicates.

8) Download Adwords Editor (Free). Create a new campaign and then a new ad group inside that campaign. Make sure you’re using your elite domain URL you chose in step #2 as the display URL. Then create 2 ads for that Ad Group. Now go to Tools->Keyword Grouper. This will sort your 2500+ keywords into ad groups and also add the ad. Now go to File->Export the campaign. Upload the campaign into MSN AdCenter and let it run with bids at 0.30 cents.

Okay so this method is kind of ghetto. But you get the idea. This method is for beginners. I’m not saying this is the ideal way to set up a campaign. But this is the super-lazy, 5 minute way.

Yes, I spammed you with affiliate links. I don’t care. This is my website, if I’m going to give you advice, I’m going to put in my affiliate links :)

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for the step-by-step instructions…very useful for newbies like me. I’m somewhat confused about step 5 though - why is it necessary, and how willing are merchants to do this?

    Hey Raya,

In response to your question.. The most fundamental aspect of affiliate marketing is proper tracking. You need to know which keywords are converting into sales and which are not.

By asking the merchant to place the MSN Conversion tracking code on his thank you page, you now have the ability to see which keywords are making sales from within your MSN account interface (or by generating a report).

After you collect enough data, you can bid higher on your high ROI keywords to gain better placement and delete the poor performing keywords.

    Sincerely,
    Joshua
