Affiliate Summit East Wrap Up
Affiliate Summit East 2009 just finished wrapping up in New York.
If you are a newbie, I highly recommend going. There’s a lot of newbie information in the sessions, and you’ll probably pick up a few tips that make the whole trip worth it.
I met up with a bunch of my affiliates, affiliate managers and a few advertisers. CX Digital took me and some of the top guys out to the Yankee’s game with box seats which was fun..
Here are some tips:
1) Affiliate marketing, like any business, is based on relationships. I met a lot of people who I’ve worked with but never met, and there was a TON of valuable information exchanged. Everyone is way more open in person. Try to build these relationships before going to conferences.
2) There are many “ME TOO” networks with nothing to offer you. They all want your traffic, but cannot provide a clear and compelling reason why they are different from any other network. Although it’s nice to chat with these networks, your time is better spent talking to affiliates.
3) Go with an open mind towards learning. This business is constantly changing, and it’s important for even the most sophisticated marketers to keep an open mind and realize there’s always more to learn.
4) Be real. There’s no reason to try to present yourself as someone your not. Just be yourself and enjoy your time.
Did any of you guys go to ASE? What did you get out of it?
